Inquire Overview

The Inquire Entity service works very similar to a Select sql statement. The way it works is that you enter an Entity Type and create a filter to filter. The entity object records that match the entity type and filters will be returned with all of their properties and values. This service is very similar to the databases Inquire service.

EntityTypeThis is where you input the EntityType that you would like to pull object records from.

KeysThis is a container node for the Entity properties that you are going to filter on.

PropertyThis is a container node for the property key that is being built. Right click this node to add more keys to filter on.

AndOrHere you determine whether this key is prefaced by an and or an or. This doesn't take effect for the first key.

NameThis is the name of the property that you would like to filter on.

OperatorThis is the operator that you would like to use in the key such as =, >, >= etc...

ValueThis is the value that the current property will be filtered on.

IgnoreIfBlanksIf set to True, this Key will be ignored if the value has a value of blank.

IgnoreCase

ResultsThis is a container node for the results of the Inquire query.

ResultThis is a container for the property name.

NameThis is where you enter the property name of the property you would like returned by the entity query.

Inquire Use Case

In this example, we are going to be looking at the Shopping Cart. The Inquire service is used in this example to get the shopping cart nickname and determine if the user’s current cart is a saved cart or not. If the users cart is saved, we display the below label circled in red.

Below is part of the process datasource where the Inquire service (GetShoppingCartHeader) runs to get the Cart Header Nickname, and then depending if the Nickname is blank or not sets the values for the Shopping Cart Nickname labels and visibility.
